ALAIN DUTHEIL

A. Dutheil - BiographyAlain Dutheil is Chief Operating Officer and Vice Chairman of the Corporate Executive Committee at STMicroelectronics and has held this position since March 2005. He is also the Vice Chairman of the Corporate Strategic Committee. Dutheil is President of STS Microelectronics, the joint venture formed with Shenzhen SEG Hi-Tech Industrial Co. in China, and sits on the Supervisory Boards of ST-Ericsson and STMicroelectronics Japan.

After more than a decade with Texas Instruments, Dutheil joined Thomson Semiconducteurs, a predecessor company to STMicroelectronics, as Plant Manager in Aix-en-Provence, France, in 1983. He was later appointed General Manager for the Discrete Products Division. In 1989, Dutheil became Corporate Vice President in charge of Worldwide Back-End Manufacturing and Corporate Human Resources. From 1994 to 2005, he served as Corporate Vice President for Strategic Planning and Human Resources. In 2009, Dutheil successfully led the creation and integration of ST-Ericsson, the wireless joint venture between STMicroelectronics and Ericsson, as its first President and Chief Executive Officer.

Dutheil sits on the Board of Directors of CATRENE, the pan-European Program for advanced cooperative Research and Development in Microelectronics. He is also a member of the governing board of the European Nanoelectronics Initiative Advisory Council (ENIAC) and sits on the Steering Board of the Association for European NanoElectronics Activities (AENEAS). Dutheil was named Chevalier of the Legion of Honor by the French government in 2005.

Alain Dutheil was born in Martigues, France, in 1945, and graduated with a degree in Engineering from the École Centrale of Marseilles, France.
