J.C. Marquet - BiographyThierry Tingaud was born near Paris (France) in 1959. He graduated from INSA Lyon in 1982 with a Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering and he also holds an MBA from Ecole Supérieure des Sciences Economiques et Commerciales (ESSEC).

Tingaud joined the sales and marketing organization of Thomson Semiconducteurs, a forerunner company of ST, in 1985. Three years later, he took responsibility for the Company’s telecommunications business in France, establishing strong relationships and close cooperation with major customers.

In 1996, Tingaud moved to North America as Corporate Strategic Key Account Director for ST’s Headquarters Region. In this role, he strengthened the strategic alliance with a major key account, responsible for its operations in Europe, North America, Mexico, and Malaysia.

In 1999, Tingaud was appointed Vice President for Sales and Marketing of Telecommunications in Europe. Building on his profound knowledge of the European telecommunications market, he contributed to the development of ST’s wireless and wireline business with major European players. These included ST’s key customers with operations in both the developed and the developing economies around the world, such as Alcatel, Ericsson, Nokia, Nortel Networks, and Siemens. He also contributed to the acquisition of Alcatel Microelectronics in 2002. Over the past twenty years, Tingaud has played a major role in driving ST’s success and growth in the key telecommunications market segment, which currently accounts for almost 38% of the Company’s 2006 revenues.

On July 1, 2006, Thierry Tingaud was promoted to Corporate Vice President, Emerging Markets Region General Manager, responsible for ST’s sales and marketing operations in Africa and the Middle East, India, Latin America, Russia and the Eastern European countries. He is also Chairman of ST’s worldwide EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services) Task Force and a member of the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) Emerging Markets Network.
