 L4957 ULDO LINEAR REGULATOR Recently introduced, the L4957 family enlarges the L4955 product line. These ultra low drop output linear regulators with a 200mW internal N-channel MOS designed in BCDII technology are able to deliver output DC current up to 4A. Operating input voltage ranges from 3V to 6.5V and with output voltages of 1.5V and 2.5V, these devices are ideal for use in low cost distributed power supply: memories, peripheral cards, graphics and sound cards and all low voltage logic at high current consumption (for example for conversion from 3.3V bus to 2.5V@2.5A). The family is characterized by very low quiescent current which is constant over the whole operating output current range, and fast response transient allowing minimization of the output capacitor value (a minimum value of 22µF assures the stability in all load conditions).  An on-chip trimming technique offers a precise voltage reference of +/-2% (including line, load and temperature variation). Thermal shutdown and current limiting protection complete the features of this family &emdash; available in both Versawatt TO-220 and D2PAK packages. Soon available, the L4957A will features extended input voltage range (3V to 14V), higher output current capability of up to 5A and added fixed output voltage options (1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V). Packaging will be identical to the L4957.  |
