 VIPer20: TIME TO SWITCH The latest addition to ST's range of Vertical Intelligent Power enhanced regulator IC's is the VIPer20: a unique monolithic combination of a state-of-the-art current mode Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) circuit and an optimized energy rated high voltage power MOSFET.  Developed in VIPower M0 technology, the VIPer20 offers an unparalleled combination of performance, flexibility and cost-effectiveness. It delivers up to 20W of output power when working in flyback discontinuous mode over the European mains voltage range. And, compared to a discrete solution, component count is cut in half. In addition to adjustable switching frequencies up to 200kHz, current mode control topoptimization and complete built-in protections, the VIPer family represents the easiest solution for compliance with the "Blue Angel" Eco Norm with less than 1Watt total power consumption from the mains when the system is in stand-by mode. Packaging is available in a wide variety: from the standard 5-pin TO-220 or the innovative surface mounting PowerSO-10 to the cost effective DIP-8 (available May 1998). Today, the VIPer family (VIPer100, VIPer50, VIPer20, VIPer31) represents an ideal solution for implementing state-of-the-art off-line SMPS primary converters for printers, scanners digital satellite receivers, digital video disks, auxiliary power supplies, battery chargers, VCRs televisions, white goods and many other products.  |
