More than 10 years ago, ST launched the first series of VIPer® (Vertical Intelligent Power Enhanced Regulator) high-voltage converters from the mains.
Today, energy-saving regulations and conservation requirements demand improvements in energy efficiency. The new family of VIPerPlus converters meets this challenge.
VIPerPlus converters combine the innovative 800 V avalanche-rugged SuperMESHTM power MOSFET with state-of-the-art PWM circuitry. The result is truly innovative AC-DC conversion that ensures efficiency, robustness and - with component count halved – saved costs.
In addition to benefits such as optimized current-mode control and comprehensive built-in protection circuits, the VIPerPlus family represents the easiest solution to comply with the Blue Angel and Energy Star eco norms, with extremely low (less than 50 mW) total power consumption from the mains when the system is in standby mode.
Constant-current operation with an adjustable set point allows these devices to cover all the mains voltages in SMPS design up to 30 W.
